FREIGHT-2010: Container Transportation in Russia and the Neighbouring States

November 25-26, Russia’s main container industry event was held in St. Petersburg. The 7th international FREIGHT-2010: Container Transportation in Russia and the Neighbouring States Conference supported by the RF Ministry of Transport was organized by SeaNews Information&Consulting.

On Day 2 the Conference delegates visited the Port of Ust-Luga in the Russian North-West. The main attraction was the new container terminal developed by National Container Company. The Conference participants had a chance to get a view of the terminal to become operable next year as well as the ferry terminal and the car terminal already in operation. A joint presentation of the large-scale port development plans was made by National Container Company, the Ust-Luga branch of Rosmorport and Ust-Luga Company.

The event was attended by leading Russian and foreign container lines, shippers, port and terminal operators, as well as representatives of the Russian regulatory bodies.

The plenary session on Day 1 of the Conference was centered around industry problems, trends and forecasts. The delegates discussed the Baltic feedering system, ways to optimize logistics costs, customs practices, new terminal infrastructure development, investment options, governmental rules and business segment strategies.
